Chills & Spills

Chills: Dealing with the weather in Nebraska isn't too hard to do if you can handle ever changing temperatures from day to day and can adjust with the seasonal climactic fluctuations throughout the year. My primary example is occurring right now. It's -2° F outside, with the windchill it feels like -25° F. Wait just a few days and things will be warming up. In fact, by Sunday the estimated high is nearly 50°F and possibly higher into next week. It might be cold outside right now but in a few days we can all dig ourselves out of the snow and enjoy the outdoors in relatively short order. It makes it a little difficult to keep one coat out of the closet though. I think right now I have 4-5 coats I rotate throughout the week depending on the desired function - be it work, around the house, warm or cold, ect. If it were flat out cold I wouldn't have to bother, it would just be the warm coat or if it were a little warmer the light coat or maybe even just forget it! It's not that big of deal, but I certainly have to weight my options day-to-day.

Spills: Emryk put our new health insurance to the test the last few days. He took a tumble from a small step stool and injured his right arm. I am about as anti-doctor as anyone can be - in fact the last time I went to the doctor was back in December of 2006 after I stepped on a nail at work (in Montana). Even though I have no reason to go see the doctor, I am a little more cautious when it comes to other people and especially anything that needs to be looked at. That happened on Sunday when Emryk fell and hurt is arm. We could tell something was wrong when he wouldn't use it, so we had to wait until Monday before heading into the clinic to see what the trouble was... After a trip to the clinic and then to a fracture specialist, along with plenty of waiting around and more x-rays than I care to pay for, it doesn't look like there is anything too serious to worry about. A splint should have him back to his usual self in no time - in fact after putting the splint on he practically is as good-as-new and acting as wild as ever! I guess next time we will just leave him to lay around a few days while we relax!

Until again
